Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

β€œThe boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered its support for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
